One week intensive driving course in Birmingham

If you have never driven a car before then you have come to the right page to help you understand the process of learning to drive and then passing your driving test.

The one week intensive driving course consist of 40 hours driving tuition including theory test training and is spread over a 7 day period. Training is usually Monday to Friday, but if you prefer your course can include the weekend.
Eah day you will be met at a mutually agreeable place where you will either start your driving lessons or you will be taken to the training area.
Your daily driving lessons will be taken in 2 hour blocks with suitable breaks inbetween. That will be approximately 6 hours per day.

Your driving test arrangements
Before you take a practical driving test you will need to have passed your theory test. You do not need to pass your theory test before you start your intensive driving course. Theory lessons are FREE on your 1 week intensive driving course..
Practical driving test
Your practical driving test will be taken as soon as you are suitably prepared to pass it, which in the average circumstance would be around 40-50 good quality driving lessons. Without compromising safety I always train my students to pass their driving test in less time than the average by using Quantum Learning techniques.

You can learn to drive in the with my especially designed methods for nervous students on the one week intensive driving course for nervous students. The one week intensive driving course trains the complete novice driver to become confident and understanding of the reqirements to become a safe driver.

On your intensive driving course you will be personally trained by myself (I do not contract work out to other driving schools) to be able to carry out the following tasks;

  • Driving your car away on flat, uphill and downhill roads
  • Changing gears from 1st up to 5th and 5th down to 1st
  • Turning right and left major roads to minor roads and minor roads to major roads
  • Navigating mini roundabouts and normal to large roundabouts
  • Using your indicators correctly at all times
  • Meeting and dealing with other traffic on narrow streets and main roads
  • Driving at 70 mph along a dual carriageway (subject to one being available)
  • Turning your car around in the road using 1st and reverse gears
  • Reversing around a corner
  • Parallel park your car behind another vehicle
  • Park your car by reversing, into a parking bay
  • Stopping your car in an emergency
  • Show you how to check your car over before a long journey
  • Extensive knowledge will be given to you on the Highway Code
  • Drivers attitude, both yours and others. How it affects your driving

You will be taught all of the above on your one week intensive driving course, but you may not be ready to pass a driving test yet due to the re-inforcement that will be needed of your driving technique to lock into your nervous system.

You will certainly be able to drive from A to B but you might not remember all that you should for a driving test.

Your driving test is not recommended straight after a one week intensive driving course for new drivers, (see one week intensive driving course faq page)
Your one week intensive driving course will give you 40 hours of practice, which is a good way to start your driving career and look forward to passing your driving test.

A concentrated effort with a one week intensive driving course would shorten this time dramatically to around 4 weeks (absolute beginner or one week with previous practice). I suggest 4 weeks because taking your driving test immediately after your intensive driving course produces very poor results, unless you have had a lot of practice with manoeuvring a car in an off road environment, or even on the road with a friend or relative.

Passing your driving test after your one week intensive driving course
When you have completed your course you may or may not be ready to pass your driving test. By the end of your driving course you will have had more than enough knowledge given to you, but you may not have practised enough to become fluent with your driving for your driving test.
You will be able to carry out all of the tasks written above, but whether or not you are at test standard you can't tell until you complete your course. Some students will be ready and some will not.
